Domitian was Roman Emperor from 81 to 96 AD and was the last emperor of the Flavian dynasty. His reign was characterised by strong, centralised leadership, as he increased the power of the emperor and reduced the influence of the Senate. Domitian focused on strengthening the Roman army, improving the economy and carrying out major building projects. He also took effective measures to stabilise the Roman economy and currency, helping to control inflation and restore confidence in Roman coinage. His financial policies were more successful than those of many other emperors, making his reign economically significant. Domitian was also involved in military campaigns, particularly on the Rhine and Danube frontiers, where he aimed to strengthen Rome's borders. However, he became increasingly unpopular among some senators because of his authoritarian rule and harsh treatment of political opponents. In 96 AD, Domitian was assassinated in a palace conspiracy, bringing his reign and the Flavian dynasty to an end.
