VS., weight 5.95g (Bull 170 R3; ESC 1001; N.2725; S.3218).Toned, a little uneven in shape with small rim nick, good fine to almost very fine and an extremely rare final issue for the Commonwealth.
Struck at the very end of the Commonwealth period under the second Lord Protector Richard Cromwell such final date 1660 Shillings are very rare, and carry the anchor mint mark current from the 1stDecember 1657 till 31stMay 1660. The last Commonwealth accounting period that will cover this date of the Shilling shows £20,739 worth of silver struck. All hammered coins of this period have legends in plain English.
