Clodius Albinus (AD 195-197), silver Denarius, Lugdunum, second emission, IMP CAES D CLO SEP ALB AVG, laureate head right, rev. FIDES LEG-ION COS II, clasped hands holding aquila, the eagle perched on a thunderbolt, 3.33g, 6h (RIC 20b). Good metal and about extremely fine, struck on a thick, heavy blank and then clipped to the correct weight.
At first sight it's tempting to think that the coin was struck on plate, but a very small section of the edge remains, disproving that. Instead, the coin was struck on a thick blank potentially as wide as 25mm, then cut to the correct weight, towards the upper range of weights for this issue. It is sharply struck and there is no sign of an undertype.
