Charles II (1660-85), silver Sixpence, third hammered issue, design engraved by Thomas Simon, crowned bust left, beaded circles and legend surrounding both sides, initial mark crown both sides, CAROLVS. II. D: G: MAG. BRI. FRA. ET. HIB. REX, rev. long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO., weight 2.87g (Bull 319; ESC 1510; N.2767; S.3323). With a wonderful clear portrait, weak in two opposing parts of legend in striking and on corresponding part of reverse, otherwise about extremely fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
