Charles II (1660-85), silver Twopence, undated milled issue (1662), crowned bust left to bottom of coin, single arched crown, mark of value II behind in field, Latin legend and outer toothed border both sides, legend commences lower left, CAROLVS. II. D. G. M. B. F. &. H. REX, rev. long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, initial mark crown reverse only, legend commences CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO., stop at end of legend and harp with 7 strings, weight 1.05g (Bull 586; ESC 2168; Robinson p.144: 14; S.3318).Perhaps once cleaned, some obverse field scratches otherwise very fine and scarce.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
