Charles II silver Threepence, undated milled type

Charles II (1660-85), silver Threepence, undated milled issue, crowned bust left to bottom of coin, single arched crown, mark of value III behind in field, Latin legend and outer toothed border both sides, legend commences lower left, CAROLVS. II. D. G. M. B. F. &. H. REX, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, initial mark crown on reverse only, legend commences upper right, CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO., harp with 4 strings, weight 1.46g (Bull 592; ESC 1958; Robinson p144: 15 (ii); S.3385). Toned with some flecking on obverse, good very fine.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles II by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the reverse as "I reign under the auspices of Christ."
