Charles II (1660-85),silver Penny, 1679, 9 like a damaged 0 with a tail added, laureate and draped bust right, latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. II. DEI. GRATIA,rev. crowned C, date either side of crown, MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.43g (Bull 724; ESC 2286; cf. Robinson p147: 54 and note 15; S.3390). Streaky tone, pleasing portrait, very fine, rare.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles the Second, by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
