Charles II (1660-85),silver Penny, 1677, inverted G in Gratia error, laureate and draped bust right, latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. II. DEI. GRATIA,rev. crowned C, date either side of crown, MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.51g (Bull 720; ESC 2283; cf. Robinson p147: 46(i); S.3390). Toned, near very fine, rare with the inverted G employed in Gratia.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles the Second, by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
