Charles II 1673 Maundy Set, Penny with G struck over O on obverse

Charles II (1660-85), silver Maundy Set, 1673, Four, Three, Two and One Pence, each with laureate and draped bust right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. II. DEI. GRATIA, rev. quantity of interlinked Cs per denomination, the Groat with emblems inside the Cs, date either side of crown above, MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB. REX., Penny with G on obverse struck over O, reverse with R over B in FRA (Bull 596; ESC 2369; S.3392). Toned, a few light scratches on obverse of Threepence, generally almost very fine to good very fine, the Penny unrecorded with the varieties, rare.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles the Second, by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
