Charles I (1625-49), silver Halfcrown, York Mint, type 3, armoured King on horseback left, with sword and flowing scarf, beaded borders with abbreviated Latin legend surrounding, initial mark lion both sides (1643-44), .CAROLVS. D. G. MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HI. REX., rev. round quartered shield of arms, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO. weight 11.68g (Brooker 1079 this coin; Bull 554; N.2311; S.2865). Toned, struck on a small round flan, good very fine and pleasing.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
