Charles I Unite, Tower mint under the King, initial mark lis

Charles I (1625-49), gold Unite, group A, class II, first crowned and draped bust in ruff left, with high double arched crown, bust 1, value XX in field behind, legend and beaded borders surrounding, initial mark lis both sides (1625), .CAROLVS D: G: MA. BRI. FRAN. ET HIB. REX., rev. crowned quartered shield of arms with plainer frame, legend around without punctuation, FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA, weight 8.98g (Brooker 25; Schneider -; N.2146; S.2685). Weakly struck around periphery with a couple of rim flaws, double struck reverse, otherwise with a great portrait, rarer die variety with the legend reading not present in the Schneider collection, very fine.

The abbreviated obverse legend translates as "Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
