Charles I (1625-49),gold Unite, group B, second crowned and elongated draped bust in ruff left breaking beaded border, value XX in field behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, initial mark heart both sides (1629-30), legend reads CAROLVS; D; G; MA; BR; FR; ET. HIB; REX,rev.crowned quartered shield of arms, legend and beaded circles surrounding, stops in legend, FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA, weight 9.08g (Brooker 58-59 var; Schneider 127-28; N.2149; S.2688 - this coin the plate coin in standard catalogue).Even tone, exceptionally well struck in both the portrait, legends and reverse shield, some raised die flaws, a fully round example with an equally impressive pedigree, NGC has graded as MS61 and the current plate coin from Coins of England.
NGC Certification 8220367-001
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "Through concord kingdoms flourish."
The original pyx trial records for this mint mark show an output of £197,057 worth of 22 carat crown gold between 26TH June 1629 and 23rd June 1630.
