BR. FR. ET HI. REX, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms with scrolled elaborate frame, legend around without punctuation, FLORENT: CONCORDIA: REGNA:, weight 9.19g (Brooker 17-18; Schneider 112; N.2146; S.2685). The abbreviated obverse legend translates as "Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."

Lis was the first mint mark of the reign and was in use from 7th July 1625 until 26th June 1626. The surviving accounts combine the last two months of the reign of James I with the new reign of Charles and totals £605,949 worth of crown gold most of which would no doubt have been new coins for the new reign.
