Charles I (1625-49), silver Sixpence, Tower Mint, group E, type 41, fifth larger crowned bust left, double arched crown, value VI in field behind, initial mark tun (1636-38) both sides, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, CAROLVS. D; G; MA; BR; FR; ET HI; REX, rev. cross fleury over crowned quartered shield of arms, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO. (Brooker 625; N.2245; S.2803). Toned, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as AU55.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
