Charles I silver Penny AU53

Charles I (1625-49), silver Penny, Tower Mint, group D, fourth crowned bust left, value I behind, no inner circles, legend CAROLVS D. G. M. B. F. ET. H. REX, rev. oval quartered shield of arms, C to left, R to right, IVSTITIA. THRONVM. FIRMAT., (Brooker 699; N.2270; S.2844). Toned, struck off-centre and short of flan, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as AU53, the second finest currently graded.

PCGS certification 1002431.53/21230109.

The abbreviated Latin legends translates on obverse as "Charles, by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland," and on the reverse "Justice strengthens the throne."
