Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower mint under Parliament, North Group G, Sharp group H bust 3, initial mark sceptre (1646-48), third and final variation of seventh bust with value behind, CAROLVS. D; G. MAG. BRI' FRA; ET. HIB; REX., rev. square-topped shield over cross moline, .CHRISTO. AVISPICE. REGNO., 5.83g (Brooker 569; Sharp H3/2; N.2234; S.2804). Toned, a little double struck on obverse with some hairline scratches, reverse a little off-centre and flat in one quarter of shield, otherwise very fine, rare mint mark of what is considered the final issue of the Charles I Shilling.
The Latin abbreviated legend translates as "Charles, by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ".
