Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower mint under the King, Group F, type 4.4, initial mark triangle-in-circle both sides (1641-3), sixth large 'Briot's' bust left, value behind, CAROLVS. D. G. MAG. BRI. FRA. ET. HI. REX., rev. square-topped shield over cross moline, CHRISTO AVISPICE REGNO, 5.81g (cf.Brooker 550; N.2231; S.2799). Surface marks and striations both sides and with a bright look of being recovered at some point from the soil, a little uneven in shape otherwise good fine.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
