Charles I Shilling mm anchor

Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower Mint, Group E, type 41var., fifth larger crowned bust left, rounded shoulder, single arched crown, large value XII in field behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark anchor prostate (1638-39) both sides, .CAROLVS D; G; MA; BR; FR; ET. HI; REX., rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO, weight 5.87g (Sharp F5/1; cf.Brooker 529; N.2320; S.2795). Toned, fully round with good detail, good very fine and similar to the fine work piece in Brooker but not the same dies.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
