Charles I (1625-49), silver Penny, Tower Mint, Group A, type 1a, large rose with legend surrounding both sides, initial mark two pellets, ..C: D: G: ROSA: SINE: SPINA, rev. similar, legend ..IVS: THRONVM: FIRMAT weight 0.44g (Brooker 695; N.2262; S.2838). Toned, a little double struck on obverse, otherwise good very fine and on par with the Brooker examples.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles, by the Grace of God, a rose without a thorn" and on the reverse "Justice strengthens the Throne."
