Charles I (1625-1649), gold Double crown or Half-unite of Ten Shillings, group A, class II, first crowned bust left in Coronation robe, single jewelled arch to crown, value X in field behind, all within inner beaded circle, initial lis (1625) both sides, pellet stops in Latin legend and outer toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. Lightly toned, a little uneven and weak at top of coin with some discolouration suggesting past evidence of mounting, otherwise very fine.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "God protects His worshippers."
