Charles I gold Double Crown

Charles I (1625-49), gold Double Crown of Ten Shillings, Tower Mint, Group B, class I, bust 2, second crowned draped bust left in ruff, value X behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark cross calvary (1625-26) both sides, :CAROLVS. D: G: MAG: BR: FR: ET. HI: REX: rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, .CVLTORES. SVI. DEVS. PROTEGIT. weight 4.53g (Brooker 133; N.2160; S.2699). Old flan flaw on drapery, weak in part of legend both sides, otherwise fully round, very fine.

The Latin legends translates as on obverse "Charles by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the reverse "God protects his worshippers."
