Charles I (1625-49), silver Newark siege Shilling, 1646, issued in time of duress on lozenge shaped flan, Royal crown, C to left, R to right, denomination XII below in Roman numerals, beaded border both sides, rev. three line inscription and date, OBS: / NEWARK / 1646, weight 5.17g (Brooker 1225,; N.2640; S.3143). Toned, good very fine, a lovely example of the final year of the Newark siege which surrendered just a few months into this year, on the 6th May 1646.
