Canute Short cross type Penny, York, Crucan

Canute (1016-35), silver short cross Penny (1029-35), York Mint, Moneyer Crucan, diademed bust left with sceptre, legend surrounding, CNV RECX, rev. annulet at centre of voided short cross, linear circles and legend surrounding, +CRVCAN ON EOFE, weight 1.05g (N.790; S.1159). Some peck marks and on an undulating flan, otherwise toned good fine, reverse very fine.

The Latin legends translate as "Canute King" on obverse and on the reverse "Crucan of York."
