Caligula (A.D. 37-41), AE As. Mint of Rome, struck A.D. 37-8. C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT, bare head of Caligula facing left, rev. VESTA above, Vesta, draped and veiled, seated left on an ornamental throne, holding a patera and long transverse sceptre, S-C either side, 11.48g., 6h (BMC 46; C. 27; RIC 38). Dark green patina, almost extremely fine.
