Calabria, Tarentum, Silver Stater

Calabria, Tarentum (c. 385-385 B.C.), Silver Stater. Naked youth on horseback standing right, his right hand raised to crown the horse, rev. TAPAΣ, Phalanthos riding a dolphin left, both hands resting on the back of the dolphin, 7.86g., 6h (Vlasto 350 (this coin); Fischer-Bossert 446a (V194/R340); SNG ANS 890 (these dies); HN Italy 880). Very light traces of double-striking on reverse, beautiful old cabinet tone, good very fine and most attractive.
