Box Medal by Allen and Moore.

Victoria (1837-1901), brass box medal with four white metal medals within, by Allen and Moore, 1850, 27mm (cf BHM 2382). Box much as made, medals brilliant uncirculated.

BHM 2382 lists five medals but this box would not fit five medals, and the inside of the box shows toning rings for four medals. Two of the medals listed in BHM 2382 share the same obverse and two share the same reverse. We believe that the present box set is complete and that BHM 2382 lists a mule or two medals which were interchangeable in the set.
