Anne 1713 Half-Guinea, Post-Union type

Anne (1702-14), gold Half-Guinea, 1713, Post-Union, draped bust left, legend surrounding, ANNA.DEI. GRATIA., toothed border around rim both sides, rev. Post-Union crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG BRI. FR ET. HIB REG., weight 4.18g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 492; MCE 236; S.3575). Toned with some light wear to high points with surface marks, weaker at centre of reverse, otherwise good very fine to almost extremely fine.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Anne by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The Mint record of gold output for the calendar year 1713 amounts to a total of £584,597 worth of gold, the second highest of the reign, but less than half of the quantity minted the subsequent year.
