Anne (1702-14),gold Guinea, 1708, first draped bust left, high indentation in the hair knot at rear of head, legend surrounding, ANNA.DEI. GRATIA., toothed border around rim both sides, rev. post-union crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG BRI. FR ET. HIB REG., edge obliquely milled (Schneider 534; Bull EGC 468 R; Farey 510 ER; MCE 217; S.3570). Toned with underlying brilliance, some haymarking patches on shoulder and on lower right side of reverse with some other flecking, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS63 and extremely rare with first bust, the finest graded example.

NGC Certification 8221629-001 - as of May 2026 this coin is by far the finest graded of the first bust 1708 Guineas of which NGC have graded three with the other two at the AU levels. For comparison PCGS have not graded any first bust pieces and only three of the second bust type.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "Anne by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The total gold output recorded for the calendar year 1708 = £44,945 the second smallest mintage of the Post-Union period of the reign of Queen Anne.
