Lightly toned, a little weakly struck in part due to some double striking, the reverse die not noted with the lack of stops after "in" in both places, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS62, the only piece graded by both services and currently the finest graded.
NGC certification 5880621-003.
Incorrectly labelled by NGC as an equally rare Limoges Mint piece but also impossibly as Edward the Black Prince (Bordeaux Mint only for that reign),. However the mint letter double struck, the wedge shaped lower right limb of the mint mark the foot of an R rather than part of an L, the curve above being the upper of the R which is not fully apparent due to double strike - the obverse die with inverted LI in legend a product of La Rochelle only too.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "Edward by the grace of God, King of England, Lord of Aquitaine" and on reverse "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men" taken from the Bible.
