A well-established, sophisticated mint was already striking coins at Tarsos by the time Alexander arrived there. It has been suggested that the similarities between the Baal featured on their coins and Alexander's Zeus, along with elements of the throne and drapery, imply that the die engravers were immediately employed with producing coins for Alexander.
