Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1887, Sydney Mint, Jubilee bust left, J.E.B. on truncation with hooked J for engraver J Edgar Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D:, rev. St. George and Dragon right, short tail to horse, date in exergue, small B.P. initials to upper right, edge milled, weight 8.00g (Bentley 695; DISH S2 R2; Hill 138A R3; S.3868A). Once cleaned with brighter elements around the legends, peppered with surface marks on design and fields though about very fine overall and very rare.

Calendar year mintage c.62,000.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
