George IV (1820-30), silver Shilling, 1825, with Roman I for 1 in date, bare head left, date below with legend surrounding, . GEORGIVS IV DEI GRATIA ., rev. lion standing left on crown, ornament of shamrock, rose and thistle below, BRITANNIARUM REX FIDEI: DEFENSOR:, weight 5.45g (ESC 1254A; Bull 2406 R5; S.3812). Toned almost fine with a clear date and variety, very rare.

The Latin legend translates as "George the Fourth by the grace of God," on the obverse and on the reverse as "King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."

This variety was once considered of the highest rarity but as time has marched on a few more have come to light and it remains very rare as the rarest variety of the bare head shilling of George IV.
