Victoria 1892 Halfpenny

Victoria (1837-1901), bronze Halfpenny, 1892, "bun" type laureate and draped bust left, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D: rev. Britannia seated right on rock with trident and shield, lighthouse to left, ship to right, date in exergue, denomination in words and toothed border surrounding, weight 5.61g (Fr.366 dies 17+S; S.3956). Light tone over some lustre, uncirculated, rarer date.

The Latin legend on obverse translates as "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."

Provenance:

Ex Cheshire Collection, Goldberg Auction 31, 1st June 2005, lot 3140 part when slabbed and graded as NGC MS64 BN.
