Victoria 1899 Penny

Victoria (1837-1901), bronze Penny, 1899, older veiled bust left, legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA. DEI. GRA. BRITT. REGINA. FID. DEF. IND. IMP. rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, denomination in words surrounding, date in exergue (Freeman 150, dies 1+b; S.3961). A few tiny nicks, some toning both sides otherwise with underlying lustre, uncirculated.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India."
