Victoria 1890 Florin

Victoria (1837-1901), silver Florin, 1890, crowned and veiled Jubilee type bust left, J.E.B. on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding both sides, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITT: REG: FID: DEF: weight 11.27g (Bull 2758; Davies 816 dies 3+C; ESC 872; S.3925). A little unevenly toned, some surface marks, otherwise extremely fine and the rarer Davies die variety for this rare date.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God," on the obverse and "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith." on the reverse.
