Victoria (1837-1901), Proof silver Shilling, 1839, second young head left, WW raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D: toothed border around rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, ONE / SHILLING in two lines at centre of crowned laurel and oak wreath, date below, edge plain, weight 5.62g (Bull 2977; Davies 852; ESC 1282; S.3903). Attractively toned, good extremely fine and a scarce variety of the proof.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
