William III (1694-1702), gold Guinea, 1701, second laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA., rev. narrow crowned cruciform shields, plain sceptres in angles, Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date either side of top crown, abbreviated Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, .MAG BR.FRA ET.HIB REX., edge milled (MCE 186; Fr. 313; Bull EGC 426; Spink 3463). Toned, particularly on the obverse, some surface marks around details, graded and conserved by NGC as VF25 with Ellerby Hoard label.

NGC Certification 6380983-146

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William the Third by the Grace of God" and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The 1701 calendar year had an output of £1,190,019 worth of gold struck into coin.

Ex Ellerby Hoard, Spink Auction 22027, 7th of October 2022, Lot 146.
