William and Mary (1688-94), gold Guinea, 1694, 4 struck over 3 in date, conjoined busts right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. ET. MARIA. DEI. GRATIA., rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date either side of crown, MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB . REX. ET. REGINA., edge milled (MCE 159; Bull EGC 376; Fr. 303; S.3426). Lightly toned and worn with some nicks and scratches in fields, graded and conserved by NGC as F12 with Ellerby Hoard label.

NGC Certification 6380983-122

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William and Mary by the Grace of God" and abbreviated on the reverse as "King and Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The 1694 calendar year had an output of £57,246 worth of gold struck into coin, of which the exact number with this date variety is unknown.

Ex Ellerby Hoard, Spink Auction 22027, 7th of October 2022, Lot 138.
