Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1876, die number 1 on reverse, second young head left, type A3, date below, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, die number below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, 3.93g (Hill 451; Bull 1282; S.3860D). Toned with surface marks, a bold fine, the die number not listed in Marsh or Bull and the lowest possible, rare.
Calendar year mintage 2,804,187.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse as "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
