Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1873, die number 157 on reverse, second young head left, type A3, date below, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, die number below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, weight 3.93g (Hill 448; Bull EGC 1279; S.3860D). Toned with surface marks, hairline scratch by date, Fine, reverse better, the die number not listed in Marsh or Bull, rare.

Calendar year mintage 2,003,464.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse as "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
