Victoria 1844 Sovereign, 4 over inverted 4, ex Bentley Collection PCGS AU50

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1844, date with first 4 struck over inverted 4, first young filleted head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: (Bentley 975 this coin; Hill 27A R2; Bull EGC 1071 R2; S.3852). Toned with light wear and surface marks, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as AU50.

PCGS Certification 517544.50/30828497.

Calendar year mintage 3,000,445.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
