17th Century Token, Surrey, Rotherhithe, Elephant Stairs, Edmund Cross, Farthing, 1659, spread eagle, legend surrounding, AT. OLEVANT. STAIRES, rev. C over EB, beaded circles and legend surrounding, IN. REDEREF. 1659, weight 1.07g (Boyne 147; BW 250). Weak in parts fair to fine.

The Elephant Stairs were a waterman's access to the southern shore of the River Thames between what was later the East India and Princes Wharves.
