Ireland, Elizabeth I (1558-1603), First base issue of 1558, 3 oz silver Groat, crowned bust left, bust 1F, REGINA legend surrounding, mint mark rose, ELIZABETH. D: G: AN; FRA; Z. HIB; REGI., rev. crowned harp, crowned E to left, crowned R to right, legend surrounding, POSVI. DEVM. ADIVTOREM. MEVM., the A struck over D in third word, weight 2.91g (BCW RS-1D/a1; DF 246; S 6504). Toned with some porosity, with a good face, about very fine.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Elizabeth by the Grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I have made God my Helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
