George V (1910-36), gold Sovereign, 1916 C, Ottawa Mint, Canada, bare head left, B.M. on truncation, GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:, rev. St George slaying dragon with sword, WWP under lance, Mint letter C at centre of ground-line, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue (Bentley 887; Marsh 224 R5; S.3997). Attractively toned, a few very light hairlines, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as MS63, extremely rare, a superb example of the key date for George V at this Mint.

Calendar year mintage 6,119.
The Latin legend translates as "George V, by the grace of God, King of all the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
