George VI 1944 Maundy Set

George VI (1936-52), half-silver Maundy set, 1944, Four, Three, Two and One New Pence, each with bare head of King left, with raised HP for Humphrey Paget on right of truncation, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: rev. crowned mark of value with date either side all within oak wreath (Bull 4313; ESC 2561; S.4086). Mottled tone, mint state in red square fitted case of issue.

The mintage for all four denominations for 1944 would produce 1,259 Maundy sets. The majority of the mintage would have been given out at the annual service by the monarch himself on Maundy Thursday held at Westminster Abbey London.
