Edward the Black Prince (1362-72), gold Hardi D'Or, Bordeaux Mint (c. early 1368), facing half-length robed figure of Prince, pointing finger and holding upright sword, plain diadem, within tressure of 11 arcs, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding with pellet cinquefoil stops, +ED* PO* GnS* REGIS* AnGLIE* PnS* AQITAnI, rev. voided quatrefoil at centre of cross quernee, lis and lion in angles, all within tressure of 12 arcs, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, +: AUXILVm * mEVm* A* DOMInO*B:, weight 4.01g (Elias 161; SCH 60; AGC 178 dies 2/a; S.8128). Well struck, just some very light weakness to some of the highest points both sides, practically extremely fine and rare this well preserved.

The abbreviated Latin legends should read in full on obverse as "Edwardvus, Primo Genitvs Regis Anglie Princeps Aqvitanie" which translates as "Edward, first born of the King of England, Prince of Aquitaine." On the reverse the Latin legend translates as "My help cometh from the Lord."
