James I silver Halfpenny

James I (1603-25), silver Halfpenny, first coinage (1603-04), portcullis with chains, initial mark thistle (1603-04) above, rev. long cross fourchee, three pellets in each angle, outer beaded border both sides, weight 0.26g (N.2078; S.2651). Toned a little uneven in shape with one short tiny split, extremely fine, a charming example of the smallest hammered silver denomination of the reign.
